Tamara
API connections
These are the services Tamara has actually scouted. Thousands of animal records do exist, and most of them already arrive through two aggregators: GBIF for sightings and specimens worldwide, and OBIS for marine life. Tamara does not open a separate connection for every museum or tagging project. She connects when a publisher documents a public API, a sample succeeds, and the terms allow reuse.
Connected
8 services answer today. Tamara has read the public documentation, taken a small sample, and the terms allow these records to be shown.
IOOS Animal Telemetry Network (ERDDAP)
U.S. IOOS Animal Telemetry Network satellite trajectory products published through ERDDAP. Per-deployment datasets with Argos location classes, source-supplied error ellipses, QARTOD flags and citations. Archival deployments (2005–2018) published in 2025.
Global Biodiversity Information Facility
Global occurrence records via the documented GBIF REST API. Separately identified observation layer; records keep their publishing dataset and licence.
Ocean Biodiversity Information System
Marine occurrence records via the documented OBIS v3 API. Separately identified marine observation layer.
Ocean Tracking Network (public GeoServer)
OTN's public WFS: where acoustically tagged animals were released (species, date, place, size) and the acoustic receiver network (station positions and deployment dates). Releases are shown as release sites, never as tracks; stations are listening posts, never animal positions.
Motus Wildlife Tracking System
Radio telemetry for birds, bats and insects. Collaborator approval covers every tag project this account can access. Retrieval is allowed. The isolated R sidecar checks that list and the scheduler takes one project at a time. Bulk export is not included.
OCEARCH
OCEARCH Global Shark Tracker animals. Ingestion enabled after the site owner attested written OCEARCH permission, on the condition that every animal is identified as an OCEARCH animal.
Sea Turtle Conservancy
Public satellite turtle tracks on the STC Mapotic tracker. Ingestion enabled after the site owner attested written STC permission for this charity site.
Crossref
Scholarly bibliographic metadata and DOI links for Tamara's research discovery. Not an animal tracking source; abstracts are not stored.
Scouted, not connected
Tamara has looked at these and knows what is missing. Each card says what would change her answer.
Ocean Tracking Network (ERDDAP)
OTN Data Centre confirmed on 18 Oct 2026 (owner-reported) that this site may display aggregated detection extracts with attribution. The ERDDAP itself still does not answer from here (60 s timeouts on 11 and 18 Oct 2026), so the variable mapping is unverified. The daily connection check will pass this gate as soon as metadata loads; sample validation follows automatically.
Movebank
Documented REST route confirmed (HTTP 401 without credentials on 11 Oct 2026). Requires an administrator credential, per-study download permission and recorded licence acceptance.
IMOS / AODN Animal Tracking
Landing page reachable 11 Oct 2026. No guessed endpoints; a supported export route and acknowledgement text must be recorded first.
Ask Tamara to learn a source
Write the publisher’s name and the public page where they document their API. Tamara keeps the note on this device. She connects only after that documentation can be read, a small sample succeeds, and the terms allow the records to be shown.
