Accessibility
The globe is a view, not the only way in. Everything it shows is available as text, tables and lists, and the product is built to WCAG 2.2 AA.
What is in place
- A list view of every Scout result and trail replay, reachable from the explorer toolbar or automatically when WebGL is unavailable.
- Keyboard operation of all controls, including the replay scrubber, panels and the Tamara dock; a skip link to main content on every page.
- Evidence categories distinguished by shape as well as colour, with text labels in the legend.
- Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for interface components, verified in automated tests against the design tokens.
- Respect for prefers-reduced-motion: camera flights, replay easing and ambient animation are disabled.
- Touch targets of at least 44 × 44 pixels and a bottom-sheet layout on small screens.
- Live regions announce Scout results, replay position and Tamara's progress; Tamara's answers can be read aloud where the device supports speech.
- Observation times rendered at their real precision (date-only records say so).
Known limitations
- The three-dimensional globe itself is not screen-reader navigable; use the list view, which carries the same data.
- Very long trails are simplified at wide zooms; the full record is available in the list view and exports.
