Terms of use

Earth Water and Sky is an educational window onto research data. It is not a navigation, safety or wildlife-management tool.

Nature of the information

All animal positions are historical observations released by third-party projects, shown with the uncertainty and delay the source provides. They must not be relied upon as current locations, for approaching or avoiding animals, or for any decision affecting safety. Derived figures (distances, gaps, intervals) are computed by documented methods and may change as sources revise their records.

Source terms and attribution

Each dataset remains subject to its provider's licence and citation requirements, which are shown on the relevant animal and source pages. Where exports are enabled they include an attribution manifest; you are responsible for complying with those terms when reusing data. Records are not to be scraped from this application; use the originating provider's access routes.

Tamara

Tamara's answers are generated from the evidence available to her and labelled by evidence strength. They are explanations of records, not scientific advice, and may be superseded as new evidence arrives.

Accounts and conduct

Accounts may be suspended for attempts to access non-public data, to circumvent publication policies, or to disrupt the service. Data-issue reports are reviewed by editors and may be published in corrected form.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the published version applies from its publication date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
